- Use the opportunities Mr. Taft gives, especially extra credit, study sessions (get hints for quizzes and tests!), and any extras online
- Participate in activities in class! It's not as embarrassing as you think it is!
- Sing in class.
- Do not take shortcuts.
- Give everything your all. You can't get by with the bare minimum.
- Take advantage of rubrics and every source that Mr. Taft provides you.
- Know what jokes Mr. Taft likes.
- Find movies Mr. Taft likes and prove to him that you have culture.
- Have fun.
- Take advantage of rubrics because it’s really easy to get an OHYEAH if you follow them.
- Get to know Mr. Taft, you will learn that he is a great guy and loves to help us learn in a unique way.
- Try to get engaged in the class. You will do better when you get into it.
- Connect your lessons to outside of class.
- Come to class with an open mind.
- Be respectful to other students and Mr. Taft.
- Learn as the year goes on when Mr. Taft is in a good or bad mood.
- Do the readings even if Mr. Taft won't know and there aren’t questions.
- Use ABC Clio and the resources around you.
- Do your homework, if not then you won’t be able to take part of his fun activities.
- If you study what on the study guide and listen to him in class (which is easy) then you will be prepared.
- Always do extra credit and get involved with the outer world.
- Talk to your parents about what your learning - they must have amemory of what you learned in class. Enjoy it!
- Remember to fill in the table of contents.
- Have oodles of fun.
- Keep your binder organized.
- Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself because it will help you learn.
- Develop opinions in discussions.
- Do not get stressed.
- Give a good 1st impression.
- Don't get behind one the homework, it piles up fast.

- It’s much better to write a little bit too much than to write not enough.
- Go in and ask Mr. Taft if you have a question or are at all confused on anything.
- Make sure you use the binder! Keep it organized well and up to date, and USE IT to study for tests
- Never bet Taft on anything - he will always win.
- Think both in and outside the box.
- Do homework at home.
- Ask questions.
- Follow the common trust.
- Choose good partners for projects.
- Do not say "like" too much.
- Doodle historically with colored pens in your notebook to add color and creativity!
- Want to learn. It really shows if you have genuine interest in a topic.
Immerse yourself in what your learning about!
- Play along with Taft's jokes.
- Make sure that you keep an updated table of contents.
- Study a few days before the test...not the night before. There is too much information to study the night before.
- Review your homework for class.
- Believe with all your heart that American History Rules!
- Watch Movies. They're fun and interesting and give you great extracredit
- The homework is a lot, but if you keep up, it is manageable. Just do it on time with quality and you won't fall behind.
- Ask Taft for help. He WILL HELP YOU so ask
- The tests are not hard if you work hard during class and pay attention---but don't forget to review for them.
- Use the class website and online resources.
- Do not insult Mr. Schwieters in front of Mr. Taft.
- Choose your partners and topic wisely for NHD.
- Remember that this stuff is interesting and important to learn.
- Keep neat and clean notes that are legible!
- Make Taft feel better by telling him he has a lot of hair.
- Follow rubrics.
- You really don't have to study for his quizzes and tests (except for the Bar Exam). As long as you listen, you can get A's on them.
- Of course always believe that AMERICAN HISTORY RULES!
