History Day Theme -  Every year, the National History Day competition has a specific theme that serves as the focal point for all student projects.  This year, the theme is “Conflict and Compromise in History".  The topic you select must have something to do with a conflict or compromise (or both, preferably) in American history (including state and local history).   You can select an individual, and event, or a idea that led to a conflict or compromise in the past.  Realize that many conflicts could have been averted if a compromise was reached!    Whatever topic you select, it must directly tie in with “Conflict and Compromise in History".  For more information about the theme, consult the 2007-2008 contest theme overview from National History Day (this information is also included in your NHD handout packet).
