What was life like for the Civil War soldier? In class tomorrow, you will be learning (and living) some different aspects of the life of a Civil War soldier. In order to give you a little background about a soldier's life, complete "Why did the soldiers fight?" doc pdf, watch the video to the left, and listen to the Civil War soldier podcast (also available on iTunes). You should begin annotating your sensory figure handed out in class - the instructions are below. If you are interested, you can also play around with the links posted below. Your goal is to come to class Monday with a solid background on the Civil War sodlier. DONT FORGET YOUR ENLISTMENT PAPERS! |
A sensory figure is an annotated description of a person in which you describe what or how the person may see, smell, taste, hear, feel, or think. You can also describe the equipment the soldiers carry with them.
Your sensory figures should be neat and complete, and each of your annotations should be a complete sentence. Look at the example annotation for guidance.
Following these requirements:
TWO annotations in RED describing your motivation for fighting
FIVE annotations in GREEN describing life in the camps
THREE annotations in PURPLE describing combat
TWO annotations in BROWN describing something from Monday's class
TWO annotations in GRAY or BLUE describing something about the opposing side
