What’s an INFOGRAPHIC? We see them all the time, especially in our textbooks - even if we don’t know what they are.  Sprye Studios describes it in the following way …

Information is very powerful but for the most bit it is bland and unimaginative. Infographics channel information in a visually pleasing, instantly understandable manner, making it not only powerful, but extremely beautiful. Once used predominantly to make maps more approachable, scientific charts less daunting and as key learning tools for children, inforgraphics have now permeated all aspects of the modern world.

Want a better way to put it?  An infographic is information presented with words, images, symbols and color.  Think of a diagram, a chart, or some other visual tool.
Your task is to create an infographic that demonstrates the differences between the North and the South in the years prior to the Civil War (as you already know, it’s also called the Antebellum Era).  Using the materials presented here, your task is to creatively, symbolically, and colorfully present information that details how the North and South compared and contrasted.  You can use the form available here or you can create one of your own - drawn or computerized.  You will be using the infographic tomorrow in class to take a quick self-assessment of your knowledge, and you will also have a formal evaluation of the infographic based on the rubric below.

What info should you have?  I will have a list of essential points that would be included in a great infographic.  You will want to have as many of those points involved in yours.  The catch – you don’t know what those specific points are.  However, I have a few hints for categories …

Geography / Cultural Identity / Economics - Agriculture and Industry / Social Conditions / Daily Life / Transportation / Political Issues
