Wright Technology Award

Charles F. Wright Technology In Teaching Award  (endowment)

 

"Given annually to a teacher who has distinguished herself or himself for exceptional application and innovative integration of computer and information technology to enhance his /her teaching and student learning."  (notice to teachers 6/99)

 

"Presented annually to a faculty member who has distinguished herself or himself in the application of technology to enhance teaching and learning at USM."  (letter to Wright, 6/99)


Award selection criteria: 

The following criteria will be used to determine the recipient of  the Wright Technology Award:

1. Peer resource/spreads the knowledge-demonstrates a strong interest in serving as a peer technology resource (spreading their knowledge to other faculty members).

2. Incorporates technology on a regular basis into classroom assignments and activities. Students in the classroom gain experiences working with a variety of software and hardware tools in the classroom.

3. Adopts and incorporates newer technologies into the curriculum, classroom preparation, extra-curriculars/special events, etc. Serves as a "Pioneer" in MS educational technologies.

4. Seeks professional development-sets and achieves a professional development goal pertaining to technology. Seeks additional professional development opportunities. Show exceptional growth in the implementation/use of technology.

5. Regularly utilizes technology in the planning and implementation phases of the teaching process.

6. Uses Technology in a way that enhances the curriculum (vs. using it for just for the sake of using it).
