Welcome to seventh grade English!

Today we will go over general procedures and expectations for the year including where to find homework and how to begin each class, and then we'll begin a small introductory activity.
1. Complete your "Interest Inventory" which will be collected tomorrow, Thursday, August 27th.

Find an ORB for ORB class.

3. Locate your red binder, one pack of loose-leaf, and one pack of binder dividers. Bring them to class tomorrow, with a box of kleenex for the classroom.

We will continue discussing class procedures by going over the 7th grade English student contract and organizing binders. 1. Review your summer reading book by skimming the opening and closing pages and creating a character list. Go back into the book if you can't remember something.

2. Get your Student Contract signed by your parents

1. Hand in "Student Contract"
2. Label journals and go over procedures
3. Assign journal helpers
4. Journal entry #1 - summer reading
Finish your journal entry if necessary, and begin a reading log in the back half of your journal.

Include in reading log:
-book titles, authors and total pages
-thoughts, reviews, opinions in at least 5 sentences

For E.C. create an artistic interpretation of a scene or character from The Hunger Games

Start creating the pages for your literary devices project; write term names and definitions out on pieces of paper

REMINDER: Booklets are due at the end of class Friday
