           SHILOH PROJECT ASSIGNMENT SHEET

MISSION

Your mission is to write a 4-10 page (word-processed, double spaced, Times New Roman- size 12) sequel to Shiloh.  This sequel should be realistic, told in Marty’s voice and take place 1 to 1 ˝ years after Shiloh.  If you have read or seen the Shiloh sequels, your story must not resemble their plots.  The main characters must be Marty and Shiloh. You may include other characters that were already introduced in Shiloh. However,  you may not introduce new characters.  Your sequel must have a realistic problem and goal and your characters must behave in a way that is consistent (REALISTIC) with the way they behaved in Shiloh.  No miracles can happen, and no T.V. violence can occur.  The Prestons cannot win the lottery and Judd cannot turn into a mass murderer.

***** This project is intended to be completed on your own, without the help from a parent, adult or friend.  If you need extra help, please talk to your composition teacher.

IDEAS

·        Consider using Mr. Wallace, Dara Lynn, Becky, Grandma Preston, Judd’s other dogs, Doc Murphy and/or David Howard.

·        Think about the natural problems that can confront West Virginians.

·        Remember that the whole town of Friendly knows that Shiloh belongs to Marty, now.

·        Remember to think through your ideas.  Think about the sheet we did concerning the facts and realistic predictions.

·        If you use Judd, he cannot become a saint or a devil.  He can become friendlier over the course of your story, or, he can decide to remain sneaky and continue to break the law.
